157866Photo #157866This is a shared footway. A new entrance to a private business park has been built across it. This is really, really bad infrastructure. The islands are too small for long bicycles with trailers, the angles are severe and motorists will not be looking for cyclists approaching along the footway.

This should be a continuous footway with priority given to those on it. But unfortunately, Manchester City Council don't have a clue how to build good walking and cycling infrastructure.

152560Photo #152560Long straight road where too many cars drive way too fast. Sections where cars are parked both sides of the road make it difficult for vehicles to pass each other safely. Cycling down Charlestown Road can be a bloody awful dangerous experience. Sections of the road could be widened to allow easier/safer parking, and speed bumps would help to slow down the idiots. Children and adults regularly cycle on the pavement which isn't ideal. As a cyclist I've had a number of close calls with cars, and as a pedestrian, I've had a few close calls with cyclists.Cycleway:

151121Photo #151121Segregated Cycleway needed Deansgate that will also allow for safer crossing towards Spinningfields.

At the very minimum the road should be repaved as in order to avoid potholes you to move very close to moving vehicles and sometimes block their way. Very frustrating and dangerous for both drivers and cyclists.

147742Photo #147742Dangerously narrow and congested busy street, with a lot of parked vehicles adding to the mix.
Ban all motorised vehicles (maybe just during the day to allow for deliveries - 7am-7pm), and make it exclusive to pedestrians/cycles.

147741Photo #147741Speeding cars/vans, very narrow road + pavement and a semi-blind bend leads to very dangerous overtaking.
There is no room to widen the road for cycle paths, so maybe we need a one-way system with Manchester/Wilbraham Rds to allow for a wide cycle path and pavement. And maybe invest in some speed cameras.

145212Photo #145212Too many parked cars combined with pedestrian islands means lots of pinch points. Solution: double yellows + cycle paths. Without the parked cars this road is ideal width for cycle lanes.Cycleway:

145210Photo #145210Approaching the Parkway East->West is very, very dangerous at busy times. There is a straight-on cycle path that cars simply ignore and cut straight in front of unsuspecting/trusting cyclist. The lights/stopline need bringing forward (Eastward), before the split in the lanes.Cycleway:
