[Image taken 28.9.22] Lidl, James Street, York. [Note: No street view at this location.] The cycles on the row of Sheffields is fairly uniform in the distance they protrude behind the racks. One is longer (see: #186449, #186451). To support people's active travel choice of cycling there needs to be recognition that some people will use longer and also wider cycles - for carrying people or goods. This paved area is sufficiently deep to accommodate longer rigs and for people still to be able to walk past without going onto the car parking area. The roof overhangs far enough to keep all parts of this cycle dry – compare with: #186258 and #186151.
