This is a shared footway. A new entrance to a private business park has been built across it. This is really, really bad infrastructure. The islands are too small for long bicycles with trailers, the angles are severe and motorists will not be looking for cyclists approaching along the footway.
This should be a continuous footway with priority given to those on it. But unfortunately, Manchester City Council don't have a clue how to build good walking and cycling infrastructure.
